DIGITAL B/W SHADED STORYBOARD SAMPLES

In advertising, black-and-white digital storyboards are the standard. They give a clear representation of likeness, the director’s vision, and—most importantly—a strong approximation of the idea for clients. I offer both shaded and unshaded boards, and there’s a good reason for that. The more detailed a storyboard is, the more clients start treating it as an exact representation of the final product—which means more revisions. Keeping it simple with line art helps separate the drawing from the finished piece, making the process smoother. Plus, it lets me produce more frames in a day, which is always a win. That said, sometimes you just need to spell it out, or you’re working with a client who’s used to seeing their boards a certain way. In those cases, adding shading is the way to go. It’s all about balancing clarity, speed, and expectation to get the best results for the project.
